City of Beloit officials say their annual fire hydrant flushing program begins July 21st and lasts through November 26th this year.
Leaders say the flushing program ensures that fire hydrants are in good working condition in case of emergencies. It also helps flush sediment out of the distribution system.
Citizens may experience discolored water, low water pressure or a disruption of service during the flushing. They are urged to reduce water use and consumption and wait to do laundry until after 6:00 p.m. during the program.
During evening hours, residents should open their cold water faucets until the water runs clear.
