It was a magical night at the Madison Ice Arena for one Verona teen.
Madison firefighters hosted the 3rd Annual Mad City Fire on Ice hockey tournament. The event benefited Make-A-Wish Wisconsin.
Leading the way, out on to the ice, was 15-year-old Santiago Garrido, surrounded by a bagpiper, family, and firefighters.
Garrido is diagnosed with a rare bone cancer. He got a chance to drop the ceremonial puck.
He says it was a night he'll never forget. “It's pretty cool that people care so much to do something like this and I'm just thankful” says Garrido.
Prior to the ceremony, Garrido and his family ate dinner with firefighters and got a chance to ride on a fire truck, as well.
