It's that time of year again. Families are gathered, with food abundant, as fireworks light up the sky.
And here in South Central Wisconsin there are plenty of places to celebrate.
From Elver Park to the ballpark, old traditions continue, while new ones are born.
The Elver Park firework display, held Thursday night, is a West Madison staple, but it wasn't a sure thing the show would go on this year.
"We were all incredibly sad when we might lose it this year” says Lisa Subeck, District 1 Alderwoman, Madison City Council.
With a drop in sponsors, the event was in danger of being cancelled, until the City of Madison stepped in to help by funding the show.
"This is one of the few opportunities that we have for residents of all of these neighborhoods, to come together in one place” says Subeck.
The future of the Elver Park fireworks display is still up in the air, pending private sponsors and city funding.
