Flooded yards and a cool spring are slowing sales at local greeneries.

"I think it's going to be the spring of being patient," said Kyle Aurit of K & W Greenery in Janesville. Many areas in Rock County remain flooded with more rain in the forecast.

"The rainy weather along with the cold weather; things are really going a little slower than normal. I think we're all spoiled with last year when March was absolutely beautiful."

Aurit says many customers are coming in to plan their planting as the ground remains too soft to garden. He says yards that remain underwater, like some streets in Newville along Lake Koshkonong, may reveal unrecoverable plants when the water finally recedes.

The Rock County Sheriff's Dept. says free sandbags are available in Janesville, Beloit, and several towns.
