Freakfest Attendance, Citations Increase Slightly

Update: Sunday, October 29, 2012 -- 3:56 a.m.

Madison Police officials saytThere were no significant incidents reported during Saturday night's Freakfest 2012. More than 33,000 attended the gathering, that's more than the 25,000 people estimated at last year's event.

At the time of this posting, law enforcement had made 36 arrests, compared to 30 arrests last year. Most of this year's arrests were for underage drinking or having open intoxicants on the street. Of the 36 people arrested, four were taken to jail. Others were cited and released.

There were approximately 300 law enforcement personnel on hand for this year's event.

Gates open at 7 p.m. Saturday for Freakfest 2012. The Halloween tradition has been going on for years on State Street in Madison. Tickets will be available at the gate for $12.

This year, there are 3 stages that will feature popular bands. There will also be 2 VIP zones, for those performances. Those tickets are $35.

Madison's Biggest Costume contest will also be held on the Francis St. stage.
