A new program, focused on getting kids active, kicks off on Madison's east side. "Fit for the Future" was introduced at the East Madison Community Center's picnic Saturday.
The program gets kids, like Kendra Davis moving and exercising everyday. With each step, they're battling obesity. Kids eat a nutritious meal every night and learn to cook and read nutrition labels. There are plenty of physical activities too. Kids jump rope, go through an obstacle course and ride bikes.
The program instills healthy habits at a young age, keeping them off the couch and away from junk food. Organizers hope those healthy habits will stay with them for life.
