Madison, WI Sept. 21, 2012 – Over the past decade, the Thanksgiving Basket Drive hosted by the Goodman Community Center has become a welcomed fall tradition in the Schenk-Atwood neighborhood for volunteers, donors and families in need.

Each year the drive provides all the groceries to prepare a traditional Thanksgiving meal, including a turkey, for approximately 1,000 families who may not otherwise be able to afford such a meal.

The Thanksgiving baskets will be distributed to families at the Goodman Community Center from Nov. 17 to 20. With the need expected to exceed the supply, families are encouraged to register soon.

To register for a Thanksgiving Basket you can call the center at 241 – 1574 x249 or you can come into the center and fill out a registration form. Families can register through the Fritz Food Pantry as well. Pantry hours are Tuesday, 9:30 AM to Noon, Wednesday, 6:30 PM to 8 PM, and Thursday 12:30 PM to 3 PM.

Those interested in donating food or money (to purchase turkeys and fresh foods) can call 241-1574 x249.
