The governor is making the rounds highlighting some of his budgetary priorities.That included a stop in Eau Claire this morning.
The budget itself will be released next week.
However, the governor is already rolling out some details.
His main focus today: addressing a shortage of doctors in Wisconsin's rural areas. The governor's budget includes more than $7 million for the Medical College of Wisconsin to expand to the Green Bay and Wausau areas, by adding two new campuses.
"For the next two years we have projections of, conservative projections of healthy revenue growth," said the governor. "Combined with the fact that we continue to be pretty tight in terms of the management of our state agencies and where we spend our state funds. And so all those things combined put us in a position to be able to invest in our priorities."
His budget also includes $3 million for programs at UW Madison that focus on physician training for those looking to work in rural and urban settings.
