Green Co. Sheriff Jeff Skatrud has announced that he will retire as of September 2nd of this year.
Here is a statement he released to the media:
After serving almost 32 years for the Green County Sheriff's Department and 34 total years as a law enforcement officer, I will be retiring from the Office of Green County Sheriff, effective September 2, 2013.
My intentions have always been to complete this term and then explore other career opportunities for the remainder of my working years. My plans now are to pursue opportunities that I do not anticipate will be available at the end of this term. I wish the timing was a little better but feel that this decision is best for my family and myself at this stage of my life.
It has been an honor and a pleasure to wrap up my law enforcement career at the Green County Sheriff's Department serving as Sheriff. I have worked here for basically my entire adult life. I have raised my children in Green County. It is a wonderful place to work and live. I have confidence that we're leaving the department in good hands as I wouldn't have it any other way and will assist in the transition in any way that I can.
Jeff Skatrud, Green County Sheriff
