Gun Shops See Boost in Business Thanks to Concealed Carry

As concealed carry awaits governor Scott Walker's signature, local gun shops are seeing a big boost in business.

After passing the state assembly and the state senate, the concealed carry bill is now on it's way to governor Walker's desk. And many gun shop owners couldn't be happier.

Business is booming at the Deerfield Pistol and Archery Center.

“Well, you've heard the phones ringing since you've been in,”

Co-owner Jim Whiting says now that concealed carry will soon become law people are pumped.

“It'll be big business here and we can tell the difference already. Gun sales are brisk it has made quite of bit of difference in the last 48 hours,” said Whiting.

Wisconsin is set to become the 49th state to allow concealed guns in public places.

“People are asking questions, they've been looking for this for years,”

Whiting says it's a policy whiting feels is long overdue.

“Wisconsin is finally getting on board. It actually should have been done quite a bit of years ago. Now we have the right governor, we're going to have it done, ” added Whiting.

Whiting is taking down names and phone numbers of people calling in, looking to take safety courses on concealed carry.

we got through a lot of safety factors especial in our training schools and training sessions.

What that course will consist of is still unknown.

“We're waiting for verifications on the curriculum on what the state of Wisconsin is going to require,” commented Whiting.

Whiting says if you're interested you should come give it a shot.

“It's not just for home protection, it's for people who like to come out and shoot, it's a great sport,”

Those wanting to carry a concealed weapon would first have to get a permit. Governor Walker is expected to sign concealed carry into law in the near future.

Hooray for Wisconsin! You are about to see a big drop in your crime rates! Being able to show that I had a gun has saved me from physical assaults and robberies on 3 separate occasions...in Kalifornia! I am about to stay in Oshkosh for a month...now if I could only use my GA CC permit there...Phooo.

though one might think that carrying concealed is now legal in 49 states, the reality is that nj really doesnt't allow it for average citizens like myself, so it should not be included in the list. is it easy to obtain permits in the other northeast liberal states? makes the list smaller than 49...

Living here in Fl, and being a permit holder for seven years I'm glad to see it pass in Wisconsin. Thanks to the hard work of the N.R.A and the state house, and your new Gov, hard working law-abiding citizen can now defend themselves and there families.

Law abiding citizens are not going to go out and rob because they are LAW ABIDING CITIZENS, but for the one that aren't they better watch out.

We have to state on the cc aplication a "compelling reason' to get a permit. Criminals and gang mwmbers carry weapons, but law-abiding can't. Many of wish that we had your law makers and goveror.

Gun Control: The theory that a woman found dead in an alley, raped and strangled with her own pantyhose, is somehow morally superior to a woman explaining to police how her attacker got that fatal bullet wound. Remember the police do not protect you... they come after the crime as been committed. I can only hope that IL will move to CCW. Bob

A note of congratulations from a neighbor to the west. Unless Wisconsin folk are significantly different from Minnesota folk, all will be fine. Since the Shall Issue law went into effect in 2005, I believe that out of some 84,000 permit holders, there have been eight revocations. Permit holders are law abiding individuals, and aware of the responsibilities surrounding and repercussions of the use of deadly force. Again, congratulations!

I see the usual fear-mongering in response to allowing LAW-ABIDING citizens to carry a concealed weapon in accordance with the law. In what state was there a wave of violence caused by LAW-ABIDING citizens carrying a concealed weapon in accordance with the LAW? (Hint: None, because it didn't happen) If it didn't happen in any of the other 48 states, why is "everyone" afraid it will happen in Wisconsin? How are the LAW-ABIDING citizens in this state any different from the LAW-ABIDING citizens in any of the other states? (See previous hint) Will this makes things "safer"? No, but that is only because it does not prevent criminals from committing crimes. What it does is give LAW-ABIDING citizens an option they did not previously have. But most importantly, allowing LAW-ABIDING citizens to carry a concealed weapon does not make our lives more dangerous. As far as it being a "top priority" like someone else sarcasticly said, it is about rolling back the encroachments on our freedoms. Freedom is always a top priority, or should be. Without freedom we have nothing. The state (and federal) government has intruded far too much into the daily life of the citizens of this state (and country), and any time we can push them out of our life it is a good thing. (In general)

An armed society is a polite society. Every dire prediction of mayhem when concealed carry passes has been proven wrong in each state that has passed it. Funny how people that are law abiding enough to qualify for a permit continue to be law abiding. Somehow, this confuses the liberal mind. I guess it shows that these statists believe the majority of people are too stupid to take care of themselves.

Its already a proven fact that in those states that allow concealed carry crime rates dropped. And as this article points out , at least one business sector is seeing an increase in business. Besides shooting has been a fun family activity for my family and I. We obey all of the safety requirements and will continue to do so. And we will have a little less to worry about when the criminal side is unsure if they are trying to mug an armed or unarmed citizen!
