Gun Shops See Boost in Business Thanks to Concealed Carry

As concealed carry awaits governor Scott Walker's signature, local gun shops are seeing a big boost in business.

After passing the state assembly and the state senate, the concealed carry bill is now on it's way to governor Walker's desk. And many gun shop owners couldn't be happier.

Business is booming at the Deerfield Pistol and Archery Center.

“Well, you've heard the phones ringing since you've been in,”

Co-owner Jim Whiting says now that concealed carry will soon become law people are pumped.

“It'll be big business here and we can tell the difference already. Gun sales are brisk it has made quite of bit of difference in the last 48 hours,” said Whiting.

Wisconsin is set to become the 49th state to allow concealed guns in public places.

“People are asking questions, they've been looking for this for years,”

Whiting says it's a policy whiting feels is long overdue.

“Wisconsin is finally getting on board. It actually should have been done quite a bit of years ago. Now we have the right governor, we're going to have it done, ” added Whiting.

Whiting is taking down names and phone numbers of people calling in, looking to take safety courses on concealed carry.

we got through a lot of safety factors especial in our training schools and training sessions.

What that course will consist of is still unknown.

“We're waiting for verifications on the curriculum on what the state of Wisconsin is going to require,” commented Whiting.

Whiting says if you're interested you should come give it a shot.

“It's not just for home protection, it's for people who like to come out and shoot, it's a great sport,”

Those wanting to carry a concealed weapon would first have to get a permit. Governor Walker is expected to sign concealed carry into law in the near future.
