Janesville Police arrested a man for OWI Saturday night, and officers say he was not supposed to be drinking at all due to past cases.
Officers responded to the “Down the Street” bar around 7:22 p.m. for a report of an intoxicated driver.
An anonymous caller said 63-year-old Rick Hesgard was trying to leave the bar and had been drinking. Officers saw Hesgard's Cadillac and made the stop.
Police say they could smell intoxicants coming from Hesgard's breath. Both Hesgard and the witness reportedly told officers he had several beers. Police checked his driving status and saw Hesgard had three prior convictions and one pending OWI case. Hesgard was currently out of jail on bond pending an OWI case. One of the conditions of his pending case was absolute sobriety.
After submitting a breath test, Hesgard was arrested and charged with prohibited blood alcohol concentration 4th offense and felony bail jumping.
