On Saturday, 02/11/12 at 8 p.m., the Rock County Communications Center broadcasted a traffic complaint on a Green, 1995 Chevy Lumina exiting I-90 traveling westbound on Avalon Road. Dispatch advised the vehicle was all over the road and Rock County Sheriff’s Deputies stopped it on W. STH 11 at S. Oakhill Road. The vehicle had been traveling 40 MPH in a 55 MPH zone prior to the stop.
The driver, who was identified by Wisconsin picture I.D. card as Brian D. Ahlert, age 41, of Janesville, told deputies he’d been drinking alcohol all day while working at the Chrysler plant in Belvidere, Illinois. Ahlert failed a series of Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and was subsequently arrested for Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated (5th Offense).
Ahlert was transported to the Rock County Jail where he was held for jail court on Monday, 02/13/12 at 1500 hours. Ahlert was also cited for Operating After Revocation, Open Intoxicants in Motor Vehicle and Unsafe Lane Deviation.
Pursuant to the directive of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, as found in Supreme Court Rule 20:3.6, Trial Publicity, you are advised that a charge is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
