Several teens have been arrested for allegedly vandalizing a golf course in Whitewater last month.

Jefferson Co. Sheriff's officials say the teens drove around in golf carts, knocking down signs, benches and garbage cans at the Spring Creek Golf Center.

They also allegedly destroyed eight of the ten golf carts.

Damage is estimated at about $50,000.

The owner says most of the damage is cleaned up and golfers are back on the course.

"It looked like a bomb went off," said Spring Creek Golf Center's owner, Mike Majewski.

Majewski's owned the center in Whitewater for 26 years.

"We're proud of it," he said while holding back tears.

Overnight Saturday his pride and joy was ripped apart.

"Everything they had to hit back there they pretty much hit," said Majewski.

Vandals left the course in pieces, running over the t-signs, markers, poles. benches, garbage cans, and a soda machine.

"They went out there to cause as much damage as they possible could," said Majewski.

By Sunday morning, 8 of 10 golf carts destroyed with two stuck in the pond and about $50,000 in damage.

"They only saving grace was that they didn't tear up the greens. That would have been the worst thing that would have happened," said Majewski.

He says tearing the sod would have put them out of business for a year. They're still up and running today but with a lot of clean up ahead.

"The damage that is on the course right now its going to take a long time for that to come back," said Majewski.

The silver lining, Majewski says, is the community support. With donations, they're offering more than $1,100 for information leading to an arrest.

"You wouldn't believe the amount of calls we've gotten for help," said Majewski. "The people who come out here and they care so much about this place and then have people come out here and do what they did... For what reason? I don't understand the thinking that becomes involved in that."

Whitewater Country Club was also vandalized earlier this month. They believe they were targeted by the same people.

Anyone with information should contact the Spring Creek Golf Center or the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.
