One Evansville boy took action this week when his mom was in need.
Chad Legler is only 7 but knew what to do when he found his mom unconscious. Chad ran to his neighbor and got help.
His mother has cancer and passed out due to complications.
Deputy Joe Carril with Dane County hung out with Chad while his mom was taken to the hospital. He says the boy was courageous beyond his years and handled the whole situation perfectly.
Wednesday, Carril gave Chad a coin from the Dane County Sheriff's Office that he says he earned by showing courage. Carril says Chad can keep in his pocket to have confidence all the time.
Chad's mother is still in the hospital but heard part of the story about how her son got help. Chad hopes that she'll be well enough soon to meet his new friend, Deputy Carril.
