A Lodi woman is facing child abuse charges after being accused of hitting an infant multiple times in the head with a drinking glass.
Melissa A. Galston, 33, city of Lodi, was charged in Columbia County Court on July 16 with one felony count of physical harm to a child.
According to the criminal complaint, Galston admitted shaking and hitting a six-month old child in the head with a glass when it wouldn't stop crying. She said she tried to pick him up first but he still did not stop crying. The child was admitted to the American Family Children's Hospital in Madison with a fractured skull, according to the criminal complaint. Galston was released on a $5,000 signature bond.
Galston is scheduled for a Columbia County Court pre-trial conference on Aug. 19. If convicted, Galston faces up 12 years in prison and/or a $25,000 fine.
