Madison --- A local Alder comes face-to-face with someone trying to get in his Madison home.
It happened on the city's southwest side near Raymond Road. Matt Phair says, he was putting his daughter to bed when he heard his screen door opening. The would be burglar took-off, after yelling at him to get away.
Phair, who represents that side of town, says there's been a spike in burglaries in recent months, most of them being crimes of opportunity.
"If they could get in, they're getting whatever they can see quickly and getting out," said Phair. "I'm just one of several unfortunately attempted, burglaries or break-ins that have happened."
Madison police say, they've added more resources to the Raymond Road area. Also saying, in general there's been an increase in burglaries city wide.
As always they advise you to lock your doors, and keep valuables out of sight to keep burglars from eying your house.
