From the Dane County Sheriff's Office:
At approximately 2:04 a.m. a witness notified the Dane County Communications Center of a vehicle traveling southbound on CTH N at the intersection with CTH TT, dragging a traffic warning sign. The vehicle also had a front flat tire.
A nearby Dane County Sheriff’s Office deputy was positioned nearby and was able to initiate a traffic stop on the vehicle, which still had the traffic sign attached to it’s front hood area.
The initial investigation revealed that the sign had been struck by the vehicle on CTH TT approximately one tenth of a mile west of CTH N.
The vehicle’s driver, Joshua J. Steinle, 30, of Madison, failed standardized field sobriety tests and was subsequently arrested for felony OWI 5th offense.
Steinle, uninjured, was booked into the Dane County jail on the felony OWI charge.
He is also being cited for OAR, Failure To Notify Police of an Accident, Hit and Run- Property Adjacent to Highway, and for Operating Left of Center.
