Madison Man Arrested For 6th OWI

Information from the Madison Police Department:

Incident Type: Intoxicated Driver

Incident Date: 01/17/2013 - 3:38 PM

Address: 4900 block School Rd

Arrested: Julio Garrido, m/h, 61 years old of Madison.

Charges: Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated-6th offense, probation violation, operating left of center, operating after revocation-3rd offense and failure to have an Ignition Interlocking Device installed.

Details: Officers were conducting traffic enforcement on School & Wheeler Roads. They saw a vehicle traveling northbound on School in the southbound lane. The vehicle then stopped for no apparent reason in the middle of the road. Officers contacted Julio Garrido and he was subsequently arrested for his 6th offense OMVWI. He tested at 10 times the legal limit at a .20. The legal limit for someone with 5 prior convictions is .02.

    If you read the story, he was cited for operation after revocation, so he wasn't allowed behind the wheel, and I'm sure the probation violation had to do with him having alcohol in his system.

    What is wrong with this state? A person with 5 DUI offenses is allowed a .02 BAC behind the wheel? They should not even be allowed behind the wheel let alone being allowed alcohol in their systems....
