Madison Police are warning college students about a scam that seems to target renters.
A single sheet of paper has been found under renters' doors advertising an “Online rent system.”
The paper says that renters should contact a manager's e-mail address with specific information that includes their name, date of birth, social security number and credit card information.
The flier offers a $215.00 credit off the student's rent for the next month for signing up for the program.
It also suggests that renters sign up for an online payment process through a company listed as H&H Apartments.
Police remind renters to never give important information over e-mail or the phone.
