The Dane Co. Medical Examiner has confirmed that the victim in Thursday morning's homicide in Madison is 30-year-old Lamontez White.
The forensic autopsy also confirmed that White died from "homicidal firearm related trauma."

Madison --- NBC15 has learned the name of the person killed overnight in Madison. The victims' lawyer has confirmed 30-year old Lamontez White was the man shot dead. The attorney was notified by family members this morning after White was supposed to be in court later today.
The shooting happened just after 1a.m. on the 2300 Block of Fish Hatchery Road. Police say, multiple people were inside the apartment when it happened, and the shooting was not random.
"The information that we have right now is very targeted. There were other people inside that apartment, and they were not shot, only one person was shot," said Joel DeSpain, with the Madison Police Department.
Madison Police also say, among the people in the apartment when the murder happened, a teenager, and the victim's small child who was asleep at the time.
Police are interviewing witnesses and are still searching for a suspect.

Madison Police continue to investigate a homicide that happened early Thursday morning.
They tell NBC15 News that the 30-year-old victim had a criminal history. They are still looking for a suspect.
Police say there is some cooperation from the other people who were in the apartment at the time.
Among those other people were a teenager and a small child who was asleep at the time of the shooting. The victim was the child's father.
This is the 4th homicide of the year in the city of Madison.

Madison Police Detectives say they are investigating a homicide that happened early Thursday morning.
The shooting took place at an apartment in the 2300 block Fish Hatchery Rd. around 1:11 a.m.
The victim is a 30-year-old Madison man, who lived at the apartment.
Officers say this does not appear to be a random act of violence.
They believe there was some type of disturbance that took place inside the apartment prior to the shooting.
There were multiple people inside the apartment at the time of the crime. Madison Police are looking to talk with anyone who has information on this homicide. They are asked to contact Madison Area Crime Stoppers at 266-6014.
UPDATE Thursday, October 3, 2013 --- 6:35 a.m.
Madison Police responded to a report of a shooting inside an apartment in the 2300 block of Fish Hatchery Road around 1 a.m. this morning. Upon arrival, police located an adult male with an apparent gunshot wound.
Police have since retracted an initial suspect description. The investigation is on-going. Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Madison Police Department.

Madison Police are searching for a suspect after a fatal shooting on Fish Hatchery Road.
The shooting happened just after 1:00 a.m. Thursday on the 2300 block of Fish Hatchery. Police found a man with a gunshot wound.
Paramedics administered life saving efforts, but were unable to revive the victim. The Medical Examiner was called to the scene.
Police say the suspect is a black male with a thinner build, possibly a teenager. The suspect was last seen wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt and dark jeans, and was in possession of a handgun.
