Madison police are still searching for the two suspects who robbed Players Sports Bar and its customers at gunpoint early Wednesday morning.

One thing that's helping in the investigation, the building's surveillance cameras captured the entire incident.

Around 12:40 a.m., Adam Martin, his brother and their friends were playing ping pong in the back of the bar.

"We played a few rounds and then started playing darts when two gentleman came in, started yelling," Martin said.

He says both wore masks, one was spraying a can of mace. "It was a very intense feeling, hot, burning of the eyes."

He says the other was pointing a silver pistol.

"I thought it's best not to be a hero in this situation when someone is actually carrying a deadly weapon and I just wanted to make sure everyone else was OK. So as long as everyone went along and followed the rules, everyone would make it out alright," Martin said.

Martin remembers they ordered everyone to get down on the ground and take out their wallets and phones. Then the man armed with a gun went with the bartender into the office to see the safe.

"Very scary to see your bartender in a situation like that and it could have been you, it could have been anyone else. To have to go through that is very very scary," said manager Wendy Allen.

Allen says the suspects made off with $500 from the till. She doesn't know how much money and valuables they took from patrons, but staff are reimbursing those who lost the most, including Martin's $130.

"It feels great to have the service actually care and follow through," Martin said.

The bar is also looking to increase security, so something like this doesn't happen again.

"Our cameras are great cameras, as you can see, but we're beefing them up too and getting better ones," Allen said.

Fortunately, no one was hurt in the incident.

The suspects are described as black men around 5'10", 180-200 lbs., wearing sweatshirts and masks from the nose down.
