Madison Police see increase in smash and grab thefts downtown

Madison Police say they've seen an increase in smash and grab thefts from cars in the downtown area.

Most of the thefts occur in the early morning hours.

Officers are also seeing an increase in thefts from unlocked vehicles throughout the city. These cases have occurred have occurred throughout the day or night.

Police ask citizens to keep all valuables out of sight or take them with you when you lock your vehicle.
