According to the Madison Police Department, a city Water Works employee was fixing a water main break when he was hit by a drunk driver and injured Saturday night just before midnight.
The employee was part of a crew that was fixing a water main break on the 1900 block of Stoughton Rd. near the Dean Clinic.
Another city employee noticed the vehicle heading towards a city utility vehicle and provided warning for the victim, police said.
The victim was able to jump to the side avoiding a direct hit between the suspect vehicle and the utility vehicle. The victim suffered a broken bone, but no life threatening injuries, according to the release.
Patrick G. Klitzman, 51, was arrested and charged with causing injury while operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.
According to Amy Barrilleaux, of the Madison Water Utility, the worker broke his leg.
