Madison Police arrested a man for his alleged 6th OWI after a hit-and-run crash on Monday.
The crash happened around 11:50 the morning of Dec. 23rd on the beltline at S. Whitney Way.
A blue Tahoe rear-ended a car with a 62-year-old woman inside and fled the scene.
Officers tended to the victim, then began canvassing the area. Turns out a witness followed the suspect to the Old Sauk Road area, and called 911.
Officers arrived and found the suspect at a nearby hotel. They arrested 51-year-old Christopher Eddy for hit and run and OWI-6th offense.
Police say there was a strong odor of alcohol on Eddy, though he only admitted to drinking one glass of wine.
Police inspected Eddy's Tahoe, and say the bumper and his license plate made it apparent he was involved in the crash.
Police say the witness did an outstanding job getting the information that helped them find the suspect.
