UPDATE: Madison man wanted for attempted murder in La Crosse turns himself in

UPDATED Tuesday, October 8, 2013 --- 1:33 p.m.

A Madison man wanted in connection to an attempted murder in La Crosse has turned himself in.

La Crosse Police say Thomas Beitlich turned himself into the police department shortly after noon today.

He's expected to make an appearance in court this afternoon.

Police are looking for a Madison man who is a suspect in an attempted murder in La Crosse.

Thomas Beitlich, who has an address listed on N. Hancock St. in Madison, is wanted on a $250,000 cash bond warrant for Attempted First Degree Intentional Homicide and Use of a Dangerous Weapon.

La Crosse Police say officers responded to an incident on Sunday. Beitlich allegedly broke into his ex-girlfriend's (Amanda Eklov) residence and hit Terrance Callahan numerous times with a blunt object. Police say Beitlich then fled the scene.

Callahan is currently at a hospital in critical condition with between 15-20 lacerations to his head and a possible skull fracture.

Police say Thomas has ties to the Vernon County area and is believed to still be in the La Crosse area region.
