UPDATE: Explosives Removed From Germantown Home

UPDATED Wednesday, May 1, 2013 --- 12:57 p.m.

GERMANTOWN, Wis. (AP) -- Police say all explosives have been removed from a Germantown home where a 33-year-old man was arrested earlier.

Police Chief Peter Hoell tells WTMJ-TV the explosives will be detonated elsewhere. The Milwaukee bomb squad worked to remove the explosives Wednesday. Authorities did not say how much or what type of explosives were removed.

Neighbors were temporarily evacuated Tuesday after police received a tip about the explosives.

Wisconsin National Guard Lt. Joe Trovato says 21 members of the guard's Civil Support Team provided on-scene analysis of an unknown substance found in the house. He says those test results were forwarded to the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

GERMANTOWN, Wis. (AP) -- A man was arrested after police say they found a large amount of explosives in a home in the Milwaukee suburb of Germantown.

Police maintained a perimeter around the home overnight Tuesday until a bomb squad could begin its work removing the explosives in the light of day. Authorities arrested a 33-year-old man at the home and evacuated his grandmother as well as neighbors in a 1-block radius.

WISN-TV reports neighbors were allowed to return to their homes once police determined the explosives were stable.
