Man Arrested for Allegedly Viewing Child Porn on Hotel Computer

Posted Thursday, January 10, 2013 --- 10:47 a.m.

Incident Report from the Madison Police Department:

Incident Type: Miscellaneous Sex Offense

Incident Date: 01/08/2013 - 5:15 PM

Address: 4202 East Towne Blvd. (Baymont Inn & Suites)

Arrested: Antwun L. Barbary, age 39, no permanent address
Mr. Barbary was arrested for Possession of Child Pornography and on a Probation Hold.

Details: Madison police were called to the Baymont Inn & Suites Tuesday after staff, and a hotel guest witnessed another guest viewing child pornography on the lobby computer. An employee told the man he couldn't have such material on the lobby computer and the man attempted to close internet windows before returning to his rooms. However, instead of closing many of the windows, it turned out he only minimized them. When officers arrived, 35 minimized websites were discovered, many containing images of what appeared to be child pornography. Contacted in his room, the suspect admitted to viewing pornography but claimed images – the ones he looked at - were of people of legal age. Based on the evidence, and witness statements, he was arrested for possessing child pornography.

He was also taken into custody on a probation hold. This came after the arresting officer learned he was on probation for lewd and lascivious behavior stemming from a 2007 arrest. In that case, the suspect was found exposing himself while lying in the skywalk that runs between Meriter Hospital and a clinic at 1 S. Park St.

I would think that the hotel would have filters/blockers on their public computers for customer safety.
