UPDATE: Authorities Identify Man Killed in Highway 14 Crash

UPDATED Thursday, February 21, 2013 --- 3:37 p.m.

Press Release from the Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office:

The Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office is releasing the name of the man killed in the traffic crash yesterday in the Town Cross Plains. The crash on USH 14 near Stage Coach Road was reported to the Sheriff’s Office at or about 0711hrs. The crash involved a semi tractor and trailer, a car and a SUV. The driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The driver is identified as:

A forensic autopsy was completed yesterday afternoon at the Medical Examiner’s Office. Preliminary results indicate that Mr. Seymour’s death was the result of blunt force injuries sustained in the crash. Additional testing is currently underway.

This case remains under investigation by the Dane County Sheriff’s Office and the Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Madison, WI. February 20, 2013 – A Mt. Horeb man was killed this morning in a three-vehicle crash on Highway 14 near Stagecoach Road in the town of Cross Plains.

At approximately 7:10 am, Dane County Sheriff’s deputies, along with Middleton Police and Cross Plains Fire and Police responded to the scene. A VW Jetta operated by Caitlyn R. O’Brien, age 19 of Cross Plains, was traveling eastbound on Highway 14 when she rear-ended a 1997 Ford Explorer. The Ford Explorer was then pushed into the westbound lane, where he was struck by a semi. The-44 year-old man driving the Ford Explorer was killed in the crash.

The semi driver, James R. David, age 58 of Wind Lake, WI, was not injured. The at-fault driver, Caitlyn O’Brien, was transported to UW Hospital with minor injuries.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation. The Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the name of the deceased after his family has been notified.

    So this 19 year old girl kills a guy by pushing him into traffic because she didn't feel like paying attention. I don't know how she could sleep at night knowing she destroyed that family's life...
