Man gets 35 years after dumping wife in swamp

MERRILL, Wis. (AP) -- A Lincoln County man convicted of killing his wife and disposing of her body in a swamp has been sentenced to 35 years in prison.

WAOW-TV reports ( ) that Mark Bucki can petition for extended supervision after he serves the time. But Judge Jay Tlusty said in passing sentence Thursday that it was likely the 50-year-old Bucki would spend the rest of his life in prison.

Bucki was convicted in April in the death of his wife Anita, 48. She had been strangled and stabbed in the chest seven times before her body was dumped about 20 miles from the couple's home.

Her body was found in May 2013.
