UPDATE: Latest Beloit shooting victim dies

UPDATED Thursday, August 7, 2014 --- 2:35 p.m.

BELOIT, Wis. --- The man shot overnight in Beloit has died. Beloit police say 20-year-old Hykyme Hayes died this morning at Mercy Hospital in Janesville.

Hayes was shot early Thursday morning in the 500 block of 8th St. There have not been any arrests made in this case.

Beloit Police were sent to the 500 block of 8th street around 12:20 a.m. Thursday. There was a report of a man down, who possibly had been shot.

When police arrived, they found a man lying on the sidewalk suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The man was transported to Mercy Hospital in Janesville, where he is being treated for life threatening injuries.

No word on any suspects or arrests related to the shooting.

The area has been reopened to the public. Anyone with information is asked to call police.
