Dane Co. Sheriff Officials say a DeForest man has been cited for 1st offense OWI following a crash Thursday night between a van and semi tractor trailer.
Authorities identified 53-year-old Richard Berkholtz as the driver of the van who has been cited. Deputies say he crashed into the underside of the trailer as the semi was exiting the Pine Cone truck stop on Highway 51.
Berkholtz remains hospitalized.

DANE COUNTY, Wis.--- A driver remains hospitalized following a Thursday night crash in Dane County.
The crash happened about 9:25 Thursday night when a mini-van hit a semi tractor trailer. The driver of the mini-van is in critical condition.
The Dane County Sheriff's Office says the semi truck was exiting a parking lot and making a left onto U.S. Highway 51when the mini-van hit the trailer. Investigators believe alcohol is a factor in the crash. The driver of the mini-van is from Deforest. His name is not being released at this time. The driver of the semi is from Michigan.
