McFarland --- Around 9:30 a.m. Friday, McFarland Police responded to the 5300 block of Terminal Drive for a report of a domestic disturbance. Dane County Deputies and Monona Police also showed up.
Officers made contact with the only person in the house, and asked him to exit.
The 75 year old man left the home with two loaded handguns, as well as 11 knives. Officers asked him to put the weapons down and he complied. The man was taken into custody.
An investigation revealed that the man was delusional and imagined that he was involved in a domestic where the imagined assailant was armed with a firearm. The man armed himself for protection.
The man is being evaluated for mental health issues at a local hospital.
