UPDATE: Hit and run driver charged in Manitowoc County

UPDATED Friday, February 7, 2014 --- 7:43 a.m.

MANITOWOC, Wis. (AP) -- Charges have been filed against a driver accused in a hit and run crash that lodged the victim in the vehicle's windshield in Manitowoc.

Twenty-year-old Jamie Hang is charged with four counts, including first-degree recklessly endangering safety.

Fifty-six-year-old Steven Gove had just finished delivering newspapers on his tricycle Jan. 18 when he was hit from behind and crashed through the windshield of the car that struck him. Gove says the man drove home, got out of the vehicle and walked away.

Gove was not seriously injured.

Hang is scheduled to appear in Manitowoc County Circuit Court Monday.

MANITOWOC, Wis. (AP) -- A local business is donating a new three-wheeled bicycle to a Wisconsin newspaper carrier who became lodged in the windshield of a car that struck him.

Fifty-six-year-old Steven Gove was hit Saturday soon after he finished his route.

The driver of the car has been arrested on tentative drunken driving charges.

HTR Media reports the owner of The Fitness Store in Manitowoc is ordering a new adult tricycle for Gove after his was destroyed in the accident.

Gove says he is grateful because he needs a tricycle for work and doesn't have the money to buy one immediately.

MANITOWOC, Wis. (AP) -- A Wisconsin man says he is happy to be alive after being struck by a car and lodged in the windshield as the driver headed home.

Steven Gove tells HTR Media he was struck Saturday night while riding his three-wheeled bicycle.

Gove says he was wearing an overcoat with a reflective vest and he had front and rear flashers on. He says he's not sure why the driver didn't see him.

Police have arrested a 20-year-old Manitowoc man in the crash.

Gove says he went through the windshield and landed in the car, except for his knees and feet. He says he turned to the driver and said, "Hello, I'm the guy you hit on the bicycle."

Gove says the driver did not respond.

MANITOWOC, Wis. (AP) -- A Manitowoc man is jailed in an unusual hit-and-run crash,

Police say a vehicle driven by a 20-year-old man collided with a pedal tricycle driven by a 56-year-old man about 8:30 p.m. Saturday. Authorities say tricyclist went partly through the windshield of the vehicle, but the driver did not stop. Instead, police say, the driver headed home, striking another vehicle along the way.

Police say the tricyclist pulled himself into the suspect's vehicle when it stopped at his home, and the suspect tried to lock him inside.

A witness followed the suspect to his home and called police, who arrested him.

The tricyclist was taken to a hospital, where he was treated and released.

The suspect, who suffered a significant cut on his hand, faces charges including OWI causing injury.
