Marquette Law Prof Joins Wis. Supreme Court Race

Posted Monday, December 9, 2012 --- 2:04 p.m.

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Marquette University law professor Ed Fallone says he's joining the race for Wisconsin Supreme Court justice. He becomes the third confirmed candidate, ensuring a primary will be needed in February.

Fallone announced his intentions in a statement released Monday. He says he's running at the urging of people around the state who believe Wisconsin's high court is currently dysfunctional.

He'll be challenging incumbent Justice Patience Roggensack, who is part of the court's conservative majority. Lemon-law attorney Vince Megna is also running.

Dane County Circuit Judge Maryann Sumi has also said she's considering entering the race.

Fallone, of Whitefish Bay, promises that he'll be impartial and fair as a justice.

A primary will be held Feb. 19. The two highest vote-getters will advance to the April general election.
