Just when you thought we were at the peak of construction season, a brand new project will be starting next week.
Beginning Monday, McKee Road from South Seminole Highway to Fish Hatchery Road will be under construction through October. During that time, the road will be minimized from four lanes to two, with traffic being routed to one lane in each direction.
The project includes repaving the road and improving drainage in some areas. While city officials expect congestion in the area during the project, they believe the improvements will make for a safer road.
"We're trying to do the best job we can to get the road back into usable condition and it is going to have to get worse before it gets better," said project manager Rick Eilertson.
City officials have created a website-- www.fitchburgwi.gov./McKee-Rd -- that will post project updates. Those interested can also sign up to receive email alerts when traffic patterns will be changing.
