Milton Police and firefighters are commending a man for calling in a house fire, and helping put the flames out.
Crews received a report of a fire Thursday around 3:00 p.m. in the 900 block of Nelson Avenue.
Firefighters say 22-year-old Edward Berlanga of Milton reported the fire. He saw flames and smoke while driving. After stopping to make the call, Berlanga used a garden hose from a neighboring home to put out flames on the second story attached deck.
Police arrived and helped Berlanga finish putting out the flames on the deck. Firefighters arrived and took over.
There was one person home at the time of the fire, who was able to get out.
Crews are thanking Berlanga for calling in the fire and for his quick actions, saying he helped put out the fire before it spread to other areas of the house.
