From the Monroe Fire Department:
On Tuesday morning, October 30, 2012 at 3:14 am, the City of Monroe Fire Department was dispatched to the 2400 block of 4th street for the report of fire in the kitchen.
Upon arrival, crews found a tenant trapped on the second story balcony. The tenant was rescued without injury.
All other tenants in the building evacuated with assistance from the Monroe Police Department.
The fire was contained to the apartment without further damage to other units.
Crews were on scene for nearly 2 ½ hours.
There were no injuries reported to firefighters or tenants.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the City of Monroe Fire Department and Monroe Police Department. Tenant of the building were initially taken to the United Methodist Church and then taken to the Super 8 Motel.
