Firefighters were called to Mount Horeb's police station early Saturday morning after flames broke out in a squad car and spread to the station.

Crews arrived at 4 a.m. and found the squad car on fire. Some flames had spread to the nearby building as well.

Dane County officials tell us the squad car was on fire when crews arrived, but that no one was inside. At some point we're told the fire also spread to the nearby police station.

Officials say crews fought the fire for about 15 minutes before completely extinguishing the flames. At some point, firefighters were also slowed down out of concern that rifle rounds inside the squad car might go off. Luckily that didn't happen and no injuries have been reported.

Officials say right now they do not know what started the fire in the squad car. Stay with nbc15.com for continuing coverage of this breaking story.
