UPDATE: Police release name of Beloit shooting victim

Updated, Wednesday August 6, 2014 --- 3:41 p.m.

BELOIT, Wis. --- Beloit police release the name of a shooting victim from a weekend shooting at Summit Park in Beloit.

Police say Tyrice Somersett, 18 years old, was shot. He was hospitalized after the shooting that took place Saturday night. Somersett is from Madison.

A 16-year-old was killed and a 14-year-old girl was shot and survived.


Updated Monday August 4, 2014 --- 10:47 a.m.

BELOIT, Wis. --- The Beloit Police Department has released the name of the teen killed during a Saturday night shooting.

Jose Carruthers-Paramo, age 16, was shot and killed at Summit Park. Two other people were shot. A 14-year-old girl and a man were also shot.

A fourth person was injured. So far no arrests have been made.


UPDATED Sunday, August 3, 2014 --- 4:35 a.m.

On 08/02/14 at 840pm City of Beloit Police Officers, along with law enforcement from surrounding agencies, were dispatched to reports of shots being fired at Summit Park, 1218 Henry Avenue, in the City of Beloit.

Responding officers discovered two male subjects had been shot. Both subjects were transported by the Beloit Fire Department to Mercy Hospital in Janesville for treatment.

A third subject had also been injured during the incident and transported by the Beloit Fire Department to Beloit Memorial Hospital for treatment.

One of the two shooting victims died as a result of his injuries. The other victim is receiving treatment for life threatening injuries.

The third subject was treated and released from Beloit Memorial Hospital.

On 08/02/14 at 1120pm a female subject arrived at Beloit Memorial Hospital with a non-life threatening gunshot wound that is believed to have also occurred during the incident.

Beloit Police Evidence Technicians are current on the scene at Summit Park.

Investigation is ongoing.

UPDATED Saturday, August 2, 2014 -- 10:57 p.m.

The Beloit Police Department held a briefing tonight, explaining the shooting situation at Summit Park.

Beloit Police said that three victims were found on the scene when officers arrived at the park. Two of the victims suffered from gun shot wounds. One was taken to Beloit Memorial Hospital, the other at Mercy Hospital. The third victim was found unconscious.

At this time, they have closed off the perimeter around the park. A thorough investigation will continue into the night.

Rock County dispatch has told NBC15 that there were reports of a gun shots at around 8:39 p.m at Summit Park in Beloit.

Multiple victims are involved in this shooting.

Beloit Police and other law enforcements are currently on the scene.
