The slow thaw on the relationship between Brett Favre and the Packers appears to be warming even more; and perhaps the ice nearly shattered last year. Speaking before the start of the team’s annual Tailgate Tour 5-day bus trip, Packers president and CEO Mark Murphy said the team tried bringing the former quarterback back to Lambeau this past season.

“You know we wanted to have him come back to a game last year, and his team kept winning and winning so, it kind of made it tough to find a time where it worked,” said Murphy.

Favre’s current team Murphy referred to was Oak Grove High School in Mississippi, where Favre served as offensive coordinator last season. Oak Grove beat Tupelo High School for Mississippi’s 6A State Title last season.

Murphy says the team and Favre have had “ongoing communications,” and has maintained in the past he wants the team to have a relationship with Favre and retire his number 4 jersey.
