NRA Calls for Armed Police Officer in Every School

Posted Friday, December 21, 2012 --- 12:08 p.m.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The nation's largest gun-rights lobby is calling for armed police officers to be posted in every American school to stop the next killer "waiting in the wings."

The National Rifle Association broke its silence Friday on last week's shooting rampage at a Connecticut elementary school that left 26 children and staff dead.

The group's top lobbyist, Wayne LaPierre, said at a Washington news conference that, quote, "The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun."

Good guy with a gun will stop the bad guy? Watch a lot of TV do we? What happens if the bad guy shoots first? Is an unstable person on a mission with a gun not going to know where the guard is? Which person under this scheme is going to be in the most danger? why should any person not fighting a war have access to an assault weapon? What kind of madness is this? Less guns means less mistakes, less opportunities for a person to have access to a gun while insane. The whole right to bear arms thing means a culture of entitlement to guns, so the step of getting a gun when the mind boils over is an easy step. No country is free of people being permanently or temporarily insane. But those countries who have strong and consistent control over the ownership and availability of guns have more children coming home alive to their families after school.

I believe they should have veterans in the schools, some could use a job, Its a shame we need protection in our schools. But better get it sorted out quick before there is more shootings...

Did Bill Clinton propose the same thing in 1999? Where was the Liberal OUTRAGE then? Where was the liberal outrage in 2009 when 784,507 mothers took out contracts to kill their children by abortion (CDC.GOV)? FBI reported murders in 2009 : Handguns 6,452; Unknown firearm 1,928;Shotguns 418;Rifles 348. TOTAL FIREARMS 9,146 (FBI.GOV). A huge difference!!!!

I have heard all week some TV and radio people wondering when the NRA was going to comment on the Newtown shooting. And now, my gosh they "broke their silence". Who came up with the idea that the NRA needed to say ANYTHING the day after, or in the days following this tragedy? This had NOTHING TO DO WITH THE NRA, and I can't see where they owed anybody a comment. The clowns on MSNBC were fiegning outrage all last week because LaPierre had not spoke about it yet. As if the NRA was somehow responsible, or connected to the slaughter in some way. Nice try libs. LaPierre doesn't owe Lawrence O'Donnell, or Ed Schultz or Chris Matthews the time of day. And...how about Obama for saying that because of the terrible shooting, the American people want the Republicans to give in and let the president have his way. Pay attention to how the Democrats are using the blood of these children to advance their political agenda. Shameless, disgusting, sickening, almost unbelievably detestable. Coming from the leader of THAT party, I expect that sort of vile tactics and thinking.

What is that going to prove?????? Then you should have them in showhouses like the incident in Colorado and spas and churches like the attacks that happened in Wisconsin and every other place for protection for all innocent people. I feel very sad for the families that lost their babies and for teachers that died protecting the children. This seems to be increasing problem in our Country and something does have to be done.People have too much access to semi-automatic rifles and I feel there is no need for all the access to these items are good. These are used in wars!!!

More guns to fight more guns? Tell me how this makes ANY SENSE! Wanna know how to get around the antiquated 2nd amendment...read it. BAN AMMUNITION! It says nothing about bullets. No where does it say you have a right to bullets. Use your empty guns to hit each other over the heads or dig holes in the back yard. Stop crazy people from getting ahold of "legal firearms" to kill our children. There is no other sane answer than to guns than to get rid of them.

Would they like to make an ongoing donation to support that idea?

Probably the most stupid thing these ears have ever heard. When this does'nt work then what? An armed guard for every student? There are 117,000 schools in the US. Who Pays? And its LaPierre and the NRA who back repubs and their budget cuts at evey turn. The NRA is in lala land. How about a Santa and Easter Bunny in each school too? And the Tin Man.

A good idea.... this would give teachers another option with misbehaving kids... send them to 'the cop' rather than the principal!
