Off-Leash Dog Attacks 2 Other Dogs in Madison

Posted Tuesday, March 19, 2013 --- 10:26 a.m.

Incident Report from the Madison Police Department:

Incident Type: Animal Complaint - Bite

Incident Date: 03/18/2013 - 5:41 AM

Address: 1900 block Heath Ave.

Arrested: Lucille P. Brown, age 55, Madison
Ms. Brown was cited for: Permitting dog to run at large, permitting animal to injure other animal, and having no dog license.

Victim(s): Max
Duchess

Details: A 32-year old Madison woman was out for an early morning walk with her two dogs yesterday. Max and Duchess were both on leashes, and in the 1900 block of Heath Ave., when they came under attack by a third dog.

Goldie was also being walked by its owner, but off-leash. According to a responding officer’s report: Goldie “attacked both dogs quite viciously, alternating its attacks back and forth between the two.” Their owner was quite emotional when the officer arrived. She still had Max on a leash, but Duchess had run off during the biting episode. She said both dogs had been injured, but she was unsure to what extent.

Goldie’s owner said she felt terrible about what had happened and told the officer her dog is sometimes too strong and powerful for her to control. She received several citations.

I find it interesting that you left out the breeds of all 3 dogs involved... I'm sure if a Pit Bull was involved, you would've added that detail.

If the woman cannot control her dog because it is too big/too powerful for her.....then she has no business having an animal like this! This tragedy was senseless. Never had to happen. Would be real curious to know what KIND of dog it was that did these attacks.
