Rock County, Wis. – The US Marshals along with Wisconsin Department of Corrections Sex Offender Registry Program, Rock County Sheriff’s Department, Rock County District Attorney’s Office, Janesville Police Department and Beloit Police Department conducted a residence verification operation for registered sex offenders in Rock County. November 29th to December 1st officers checked the addresses of 271 registered sex offenders. As of this date 10 were found to be non compliant and 66 were not available at their residences. 3 people were arrested for various misdemeanor warrants and 1 person was arrested on a warrant for failing to register as a sex offender. Officers will follow up on contact with the 66 unavailable while non-compliant sex offenders will be investigated by the Sex Offender Registry Program and the US Marshals for potential charges under state and/or federal law.
The initiative is part of the working relationship between the US Marshals Sex Offender Investigations Branch and the Wisconsin Department of Corrections Sex Offender Registration Program which monitors all 21,645 Wisconsin Sex Offenders.
