UPDATED Tuesday, January 14, 2014 --- 6:15 p.m.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Officials have identified the worker who fell to his death at The Edgewater hotel construction site in downtown Madison.

The Dane County medical examiner's office identifies the worker as 40-year-old Robert Lund of Cambridge.

The medical examiner says Lund died from injuries he suffered in the fall.

Officials from Findorff construction say the fall happened around 2 p.m. Monday.

The Wisconsin State Journal reports the company has not said what Lund's job was at the site, or where he was working when he fell.

Lund's death is being investigated by Madison police, the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the medical examiner's office.

The Dane Co. Medical Examiner's Office has identified the man that died in a fall at the Edgewater Hotel construction site as 40-year-old Robert Lund of Cambridge.

The accident happened Monday around 2:00 p.m.

An autopsy confirms that Lund's death was the result of injuries he sustained in the fall.

The developer of The Edgewater released a statement following the death of a construction worker at the hotel's construction site Monday afternoon.

Bob Dunn said, “A tragic accident involving a worker at the Edgewater site occurred this afternoon. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the worker’s family, friends and co-workers. All of us in The Edgewater family are deeply saddened and extend our sincere condolences to the worker’s family.”

OSHA officials are now investigating the fatal fall.

UPDATED: Monday, January 13, 2014 -- 4:20 p.m.

A spokesman for Findorff Construction has confirmed that the person who fell to his death at the Edgwater Hotel construction site was a Findorff worker. Spokesman Brian Hornung says their hearts go out to the family.

According to the spokesman, the man died at the scene before being transported to a local hospital.

POSTED: Monday, January 13, 2014 -- 4:05 p.m.

Emergency crews and the Dane County Medical Examiner are at the construction site of the Edgewater Hotel.

The Madison Fire Department has confirmed that one person is dead of an apparent accident, though it is not yet clear whether that person was a construction worker.

The fire department, along with Madison Police, responded at 2:00 p.m. for a call of someone falling at least 20 feet on the lake side of the construction site.

The vice president of Findorff Construction company confirmed that an accident happened at the site this afternoon.
