Overnight fire in Middleton leaves eight displaced

According to the Middleton Fire Department, four people had to be rescued from a balcony during a fire Sunday morning.

According to the Dane County Dispatch Center, a call came in around midnight Sunday with reports of smoke coming from an apartment in the 1200 block of Sweeny Drive.

According to Chief Aaron Harris, of the Middleton Fire Department, eight families were effected, however, there were no serious injuries. In total six people were rescued from the building. Four people were rescued from a balcony and two people were rescued from inside the building.

The fire is under investigation. The Red Cross is helping those who have been displaced.
