Packers Looking for 600 Shovelers to Clear Stands

Posted Wednesday, January 2, 2013 --- 11:38 a.m.

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- Once again, the Green Bay Packers are asking the community to help remove snow from Lambeau Field.

The team says shoveling will begin Thursday at 9 a.m. The Packers are looking for as many as 600 shovelers to clear snow throughout the day as needed.

Workers need to be at least 15 years old and they'll be paid $10 per hour. The team provides the shovels.

The shoveling ritual generally takes place a few times per season at Lambeau, an outdoor stadium that can get heavy snowfall in a short time. Heating coils under the field help keep the playing surface snow-free, but snow can quickly pile up in the stands.

Green Bay hosts the Minnesota Vikings in a first-round playoff game Saturday evening.
