VIDEO REPORT: Walker Urges Wisconsinites to Work for Romney-Ryan

UPDATED Wednesday, September 12, 2012 --- 11:58 a.m.

ASHWAUBENON, Wis. (AP) -- Gov. Scott Walker is calling on more than 1,200 people at a town hall meeting hosted by Paul Ryan near Green Bay to get to work to help Mitt Romney get elected.

Walker introduced Ryan at the event Wednesday. He calls Romney and Ryan "two of the Midwest's favorite sons."

Walker says "it's pretty nice to have a cheesehead on the ticket, isn't it?"

Walker notes that the last time Wisconsin voted for a Republican for president he was a sophomore in high school and Ryan was in eighth grade in Janesville.

Ryan took the stage after Walker wearing a Green Bay Packers polo shirt. He spoke for about five minutes before taking questions from the crowd.

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- Paul Ryan is spending plenty of time in his native Wisconsin since joining the Republican ticket as Mitt Romney's running mate.

Ryan was scheduled to host a town hall meeting on Wednesday near Green Bay, a part of the state that tends to lean Republican but that voted for President Barack Obama in 2008.

Romney is making a stronger play for Wisconsin since selecting Ryan, a Janesville native, as his running mate. Polls before the pick showed Obama with a lead but the most recent ones done in mid-August show the race is nearly even.

Ryan's visit is sandwiched in between two by Democratic Vice President Joe Biden. He was also in Green Bay last week and planned to host a rally at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire on Thursday.

I don't think Romney & Ryan need help from us. They have all the help they need from the Koch brothers and other members of the 1%. It isn't in my best interests to support any Republican - they want to help corporations and the wealthy. I'm not against either of those, but I would like a level playing field. I'd like the top 1% to pay the same income tax I pay! Look to the Koch brothers and others like them to help Romney & Ryan!
