BOSTON (AP) -- Rep. Paul Ryan, the former Republican vice presidential nominee, is headed to New Hampshire.
Two Republicans with knowledge of the trip say the Wisconsin congressman is set to visit the state in October to help former House colleague, Frank Guinta. They spoke on the condition of anonymity because they weren't authorized to share Ryan's travel plans.
Guinta, who was defeated last fall, is expected to launch a re-election campaign in the coming weeks.
The visit marks Ryan's first to New Hampshire since he campaigned across the state for Mitt Romney's unsuccessful presidential bid last fall. New Hampshire traditionally hosts the nation's first presidential primary, and Ryan is thought to be weighing a presidential bid of his own.
A handful of prospective 2016 presidential candidates have already visited the state.
