MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Planned Parenthood Advocates of Wisconsin is endorsing Democrat Mary Burke in the governor's race, even as another Democratic candidate considers challenging her.

Planned Parenthood executive director Tanya Atkinson said Wednesday that Burke is the only candidate with a clear path to victory. The other Democrat considering running, state Sen. Kathleen Vinehout, has a checkered history with Planned Parenthood.

Vinehout received the group's endorsement in 2006 when she ran for the Senate. But Planned Parenthood rescinded its backing after Vinehout authored an amendment to allow pharmacists and pharmacies with religious objections to refuse to dispense birth control to women.

No other Democrat has announced plans yet to challenge Republican Gov. Scott Walker.

Republican Party director Joe Fadness says the endorsement is another example of special interests backing Burke.
